Christopher Elliott, a MSNBC travel consultant and columnist wrote in his December 21, 2009 article "Stay off the computer: 7 trips you should never book online", be very careful in booking your own trips. In the article he questioned Ginny Mahl, Travelocity's vice president of sales and customer service who stated, "There is still a place for traditional travel agents, particularly those that have carved out a niche, like adventure travel." The seven reasons he gives for not booking online yourself are: Cruising, Traveling around the world, When you don't have the time, If your uncomfortable with the Web, International Travel, Exotic Travel, Special Events (Honeymoons, Destination Weddings, Anniversaries and class reunions).
Dan and Lara Bunkers, owners of the Greater Des Moines area All About Honeymoons franchise, understand the great time commitment and frustration it places on the traveler to research and choose the perfect destination via the internet, because they have done it. When they married in 2004, Dan and Lara spent well over eighteen hours worth of time researching before spending several thousand dollars on what they considered their perfect honeymoon, just to find out Dan booked a couple nights in a cheesy hotel in the "red light district". In 2008, they decided having looked at Entrepreneur Magazine's 50 best franchises; All About Honeymoons was all about them. They realized they could help the vast number of brides and grooms and other travelers in the quest for the best, affordable and time/mind saving travel planning available. Realizing the internet is a useful tool, it is not the end all when replacing experienced advice.
