Ever wonder why brides carry fragrant bouquets on their wedding day? Or why June seems to be the popular month for weddings? Well, back in the days before indoor plumbing, bathing in the winter was a bit of a challenge. Baths were taken after the thaw, typically in the early month of spring - May. Wedding preparations were made soon after that and by June, brides were ready to be married. But in case they were already smelling, well, a bit "ripe", they made sure to carry fragrant bunches of flowers. This way the blooms would mask any negative odor.
