I have to say that I was surprised when I found that the first bride to wear a pair of high heels down the aisle was in the 1500's. Catherine De Medici, being the first bride to wear high heels down the aisle can be called the trendsetter.

The shoes a girl chooses for her wedding day are very special. I must say all of our brides have had excellent taste in footwear. The shoes I loved the most this wedding season were the red Valentino stilettos with red bottoms. I LOVE SHOES, so you should know that I was more than interested enough to do some research on the subject.
Through my research, I learned that since the early 1900s, high-heel design has run the gamut of styles. Kristin S. Wagner was the original designer of the stiletto heel, which became popular in the late 1950s. In addition to the slender heel, the toes of the shoes became more slender and elongated as well. As a result, the whole shoe was often referred to as a "stiletto", rather than just the heel.
With any dress you must be cautious to wear shoes that complement the dress. If you're wearing a beachy, flowy gown, strappy sandals are appropriate, while bulky stilettos are not. The same goes, if you're wearing an elegant ball gown, don't wear strappy sandals!
Another option is the colored pump trend, sweeping the nation leaving brides and their bridesmaids clad in bright colored pumps, ditching ugly white shoes for their fun and beautiful counterparts. This trend is fun, playful and the perfect way for a bride to express her personality. While we love our colored pumps, it's important to do the colored pump "thing" right. The bride should wear whatever color she likes, but if an entire wedding party is donning funky pumps, be sure that the everyone wears the same color or colors in the same tone
Now that we have really covered heels and how to add a touch of personality with them, let's get back to the sexy red soled shoes that caught me in the first place. The shoes I'm referring to were designed by Valentino, a high-end women's shoe designer. Those Valentino's had a dynamic look and stunning personality, transforming them into an essential piece perfect for her occasion, a favorite object, and a fashion statement.
