Owners Dan and Lara Bunkers
Lara and Dan Bunkers
are the owners of THE BRIDAL CONNECTION & ALL ABOUT HONEYMOONS®.
Lara is a life-long resident of the Des Moines area and the daughter of
Larry and Lolly Beem. She graduated in 1980 from Tech High as a Licensed
Practical Nurse. Having worked at Mercy Hospital and as clinic manager at Penn
Medical Family Care Center for the past 21 years, the opportunity to purchase
THE BRIDAL CONNECTION from her friend, Joy McGovern became a reality in 2007.
Dan is a native of Canton, SD and a 26 year Navy veteran. Upon
retirement from the Navy in 2004, he moved to Des Moines. He earned his
Bachelor's degree graduating summa cum laude from Excelsior College, Albany,
New York in 2006. |
Lara and
Dan began dating while Dan was still on active duty in 2000. Their long
distance relationship, not only transformed into marriage in 2004, it also
culminated into being co-owners/partners of the bridal store and travel agency.
They are dedicated in providing not only quality products, but most importantly
outstanding and customized customer service. Our customers are #1.
They
are members of All Saints Church in Saydel, Ankeny Chamber of Commerce, Altoona
Fast Track Businesses, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Knights of Columbus.

Rachel
Assistant Manager
Rachel is a graduate
of Grand View College. She lives in Ankeny with her fiance Sean and they are
enjoying the planning of their upcoming August wedding. In her free time she
likes to spend time with family and friends, cook and watch the
Hawkeyes! |
Holly
Bridal Consultant
Holly graduated from
Faith Baptist Bible College and recently got married in June, 2009. Her and her
husband now live in Pleasant Hill. She is very involved in her local church,
Living Waters Fellowship. She enjoys being with family and friends, singing,
being outdoors, taking pictures, scrapbooking and playing soccer. She has been
working at The Bridal Connection for over a year now and really enjoys it. She
loves meeting new people, and loves itwhen a bride comes in and she gets to
work with them on picking out the perfect dress for their big day! |
Jennie
Bridal Consultant
Jennie is a native
of Florida where she grew up in Ft. Lauderdale. She is the mother of two boys
Leon and Harrison. She resides in Ankeny with her husband Jon, whom she has
been married to for almost nine years and their kids. She is a member of the
Des Moines Parrot Head Club and enjoys reggae and Jimmy Buffet music. Her
hobbies include any kind of water sport, "I love them all!" And going to Kansas
City Chief games with her hubby. |
Bonnie
Alterations/Fit Consultant
Bonnie is a
native of Manson, Iowa, but considers the Des Moines area to be her home.
Bonnie has a passion for the fine art of sewing and has over 40 years of
experience. She loves working with brides and their wedding parties. Bonnie
retired from Des Moines Public Schools as a Deaf Education interpreter and
associate in 2002. She is the mother of 4 children, grandmother to 7 children
and a great-grandmother to 2. She enjoys traveling, camping and being with her
family. Her hobbies include woodworking and arts & crafts. |
Hannah
Receptionist/Alterations
Hannah is a
Des Moines native and a 4.0 student at North High School. Not only does she
have a dedication for studying, she is highly talented in the arts. Her art
work has been displayed throughout the city for various exhibitions. She loves
working in the alterations department, especially doing the intricate and
tedious job of beading. After high school, she hopes to attend the University
of Iowa and pursue a career in business and the arts. |
Cindy
Alterations/Fit Consultant
Cindy is a
life-long resident of Des Moines and a graduate of Hoover High School. Cindy
has over 40 years of experience sewing and professionally for more than 10
years. Her love of sewing has been wide-ranging from tailoring, design and
pattern making, to bridal. Cindy and her husband John of more than 32 years,
have 3 children, 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. They are members of
Ankeny Apostolic Assembly where she enjoys singing. Her favorite pastimes are
reading and traveling. |
